The Three Brothers & Storage Wars

When I moved into the Extra Space Storage in Wilton Manors, On day one, I met these three brothers. Between the three of them, they had two storage units they shared with each other.

Their storage units were gigantic. You see, my storage unit I had rented for me was 5' x 10'. In my unit, I was able to fit some the few things I have acquired while I was in rehab. I couldn't even bring everything I had at Broward House with me. I left three large bags full of nick-nacks and clothes. It was very difficult to transport my things on a moped.

One thing that I had going for me at this point of my life was that I was able to secure another job after Chewy.com. Right before leaving Broward House, I got a job working for a parking garage company. The manager for the company was a Broward House alumni. He did what he could to give back to Broward House by giving employment to residents at Broward House.

So here I am, with a job, a roof over my head, friends, and an addiction to crystal meth.

So I decided to add to my pile of things... becoming a drug dealer. With the money I got from work, I took some of it and invested it into drugs. Enough drugs to use. Enough drugs to sell on the side. I was just dipping my toe into that water for the time being. Sold only to a few friends of mine. I use the term friends lightly here though.

Now, as one probably assumes, it is not allowed to stay in storage units. And at this storage facility, there was a lot of people doing exactly that. Other than me and the three brothers... there was a good five to ten others who crashed in their storage unit too. All we had to do was hide that fact from the employees. That proved a lot easier than one would guess. I say that, but I always suspected that they knew, they just didn't say much about it. So there we are. me, the three brothers, and others, smoking meth in a storage building at all hours of the day and night. During the day, we tried our best to either secretly sleep in our storage units or spend time away from the facility until the employees leave for the day.

I became friends with quite a few of the other residents. If we knew one of us was going to be back after the building is closed for the day, somebody would prop one of the doors open for them. We took care of our own. We did drugs together. We spent a lot of time together. I soon became like a family member to the three brothers. Everyday we spent together. They knew every aspect of my life and I knew every aspect of theirs. Everyday we had more company than just the four of us. We had a homeless meth community that we were part of. And it's a lot more people than most actually know. This is when Mary became part of my life.

We found things to occupy our time with. The boys sometimes worked on broken bicycles. Sometimes I pretended to help. Somedays, I would be on Zoom again getting high. This was when the name Tweak Twack Zack started to mean something in the Zoomerverse. But more on that throughout the rest of my story.

Extra Space Storage had some Wi-Fi. But it didn't reach my unit on the second floor. So i started to use my cellphone's mobile hotspot. So now, with me becoming more regularly on Zoom, my bills became paying ten dollars a day that I was on Zoom for Wi-Fi because it consumes so much data. I had food stamps and a local food pantry for food. So my money went to Wi-Fi, drugs, and the occasional stay in a hotel.

I didn't pay for the second month of use for my storage unit. I made plans to move into one of the brothers storage units on the first floor because we were basically like family by now and he was moving into a new apartment with his sugar daddy.

When I moved my stuff from my tiny storage unit to the new place, which was a 20' x 20' unit, I was able to set up the unit to be like a secret studio apartment. Equipped with electricity too. So there I was living it up like a king I felt like.

By this point, the two still homeless brothers had moved to a exterior storage facility a few miles away in Oakland Park.

Eventually, after not paying for my storage unit for two months, I got a lock put onto my unit. I once again have lost all of my belongs. And there was Mary to catch my fall this time though.
