King XXL

My first night alone on the streets in Wilton Manors, I found myself meeting this character of a person. King XXL. What started out as a meeting to smoke and hang out, ended up becoming my introduction to two things... dumpster diving and high cleaning someone else's place. After we smoked inside, we went out to his yard. His yard had so many knickknacks and random things. I asked him where did he get all of his unique décor? He told me he found most of it on the curb or in a dumpster.

He had all these different sized frames spread across his fence and inside his house. He had string lights of all types all around the yard. He had Phillips Hue color changing bulbs in every single light in his two bedroom apartment.

He seemed to not be the most tidy of people though from what I have gathered. His unique décor that wasn't hung up, was scattered across his entire yard and patio, and inside his apartment. Inside his apartment, it was so bad, that he had the entire second bedroom dedicated to the surplus of stuff that he had gathered. I didn't get to see the extent of clutter in that room, for about a month into hanging out with King.

Now one might ask oneself why I call someone by the name King XXL?

The simple answer is, after a few months of hanging out with him, which we hung out everyday more or less, He disclosed to me that the way he was able to pay his bills was that he was a very popular escort, and for his online profile, went by the name King XXL. King was a very attractive man, looks nothing like what people view as a meth head. But don't get it wrong. King Midas and I stayed high daily.

The way that I was able to stay high is to do some work for him. I did housekeeping for him. Now... when one is high on crystal meth, and is cleaning... That cleaning is like an Olympic sport. There is plenty of bizarre jokes out there about tweakers tweaking. We just see it at normal shit.

The cleaning eventually turned into getting really really high together by doing nails (A nail is a attachment to a bong that you heat up so hot the glass is glowing, and then you drop a small shard of meth into it, in return, gives you so much smoke to inhale). Followed by then going into the second room to organize the chaos within. The organizing took weeks to do.

And I did this twice. Yeah. One time at his duplex apartment right by Wilton Drive and then again at the apartment he moved to after being evicted from the duplex. Both two bedroom apartments, for a single person, because of all the stuff he had.

Nearly everyday I was with him, we went dumpster diving and driving around looking for stuff on the curb. Mind you, this was at like 4 am. We would go to places like Ulta, Michaels, and Pier One Imports, those places, in their dumpsters, threw away all kinds of good things. Michaels is where all the frames came from. Ulta is where all Kings bathroom products and there was a endless amount of these. Pier One Imports and where we got random knickknacks and décor.

King stayed a major part of my life in Wilton Manors. He was with me before and after going to rehab at Broward House. He was with me DURING rehab. More on that in the next chapter.

Even though, for the year that I was friends with King, he didn't once offer me even a couch to take a nap on... He kept me high and happy.

I invested in a hammock. I would set it up a block away from his place. Behind trees, but definitely seen still. Every few days I would do that. Being high on meth you don't really sleep much.

Eventually my employment for King evolved into me managing his online escort profile and the messages he gets. He had THOUSANDS of messages. From different guys, wanting a piece of him. Most the messages got ignored because he is high and doing other things. So, he offered me 10 percent of his fee for each meeting I booked for him. Guys were paying the man $350 per hour (for his time). Charging $1200 for overnights. My first meeting I booked was a three day stay in New Mexico with this wealthy man. He even paid $1000 for a deposit.

I later find out that that trip got canceled due to the Pandemic. Non refundable deposit. That got spent quick.

There was a few meetings I scheduled. Didn't really make money... But I was able to stay high for free more or less.

King XXL may not have been the most considerate of people. But he was none the less my closest friend I had and I greatly appreciate those things he did do for me. I appreciate the friendship more than I ever got the chance to express to him.
